September 2012 Music Calendar

Calendar updated daily!

Tri-State Area Music Festivals

4th Annual Clinton Hill Block Party (Brooklyn, NY): Annual block party in Clinton Hill. A stage set-up in the street (donated by neighbors), several bands perform, and they have some good food. They’re on Waverly Avenue b/w Willoughby and DeKalb Avenues (G train to Clinton-Washington).  This year’s bands include BR and Timebomb, Arnold Lee Quintet (Spike Lee’s nephew) and Viva (a rock trio). (Free)

ATP America & I’ll Be Your Mirror ATP Festival (Asbury Park, NJ)Named after the song “All Tomorrow’s Parties” by The Velvet Underground, it was founded by Barry Hogan in 1999 as an alternative to larger, more corporate festivals like Reading or Glastonbury, with a tendency towards post-rock, avant-garde, and underground hip hop, along with more traditional rock fare, but presented in an environment more intimate than a giant stadium or huge country field. All Tomorrow’s Parties is a sponsorship-free festival where the organisers and artists stay in the same accommodation as the fans. ($60-$199 for a Weekend 3-Day Pass )

Catskill Chill Music Festival (Hancock, NY): A glorious intimate festival held on the  grounds of Camp Mingle Wood. Imagine being able to go to “summer camp” for a weekend with all your friends. Our TinyRager crew has a 30-person cabin and it allows for an atmosphere of bonding that we have never experienced. With bathrooms and beds, it’s comfortable and convenient. This year’s festival is being held September 7 – September 9, 2012. ($125-$145)

Global Poverty Festival (Central Park’s Great Lawn, NY):  With Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, Band of Horses, and K’naan in their line-up, this festival is looking to be the greatest festival that has taken place on the grounds of Randall’s Island. Held on September 29, 2012, and being delivered as a “free ticketed musical festival to help end extreme poverty”,  Global Poverty encourages everyone to “take action” and by taking action, you earn points, which in turn earns you a space in a free lottery for a ticket. Their website explains it all. Click the name above. (Free with earned points)

Souper Groove Music Festival (Camp Zehndar Wall, NJ): Held this year on September 28- 29, 2012, Turtle Soup is hosting a Family Friendly Music and Camping Festival right near the Jersey Shore… join them for 2 Nights of Music and Camping on over 120 wooded acres at YMCA Camp Zehnder!

Westerleigh Folk Festival (Westerleigh Park, Staten Island, NY): The 5th Annual Westerleigh Folk Festival will take place on Saturday Sept. 22nd, 2012 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Among this year’s featured acts are popular folk duo The Kennedy’s, WNYC Greene Space , Battle of the Boroughs winner Joan Caddell & The Midnight Choir, Irish Harpist MiaTheodoratus & The NY Harp Ensemble , Irish step dancer Kevin Brown, Jim Indell, Allergic To B’s, Julia & Kacey, Tall Tall Trees, 2011 WestFest favorite The Daily Band and Morty Jacobi with Stan Jay, Norm Pedersen, Bob Conroy and Friends among others. August 2012 Music Calendar

Calendar updated daily!

Tri-State Area Music Festivals

Afro-Punk Festival, (NYC): The Afro-punk Festival is returning to Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park for the 8h Annual Afro-punk Festival on August 25-26.

Electric Zoo Festival, (NYC): an annual electronic music festival held over Labor Day weekend in New York City on Randall’s Island Park.

Equifunk Music Festival, (Equinunk, PA): A festival that embodies all that fans love about the festival experience, without any of the headaches that always seem to come with the turf. Dubbed by Hidden Track as the “Anti-Festival,” Equifunk is as intimate as music festivals get. Guests gets to see their favorite bands play one of the sickest pool parties during the day and at the state of the art E-Rena at night…all from the front row.

Good Morning America Summer Concert Series: Returning for the fourth year to the Rumsey Playfield in New York City’s Central Park, where music’s biggest names will perform live every Friday.  Robin Thicke, No Doubt, Brad Paisley, Counting Crows, Demi Lovato, The Wanted, Neon Trees and LMFAO Among the Hot, Chart-Topping Acts to Perform. Concerts take place every Friday from May 25-August 31.

Two Boots Anniversary Concert: Occuring on August 23, 2011, this FREE concert is the centerpiece of Two Boots yearlong celebration of a quarter century as NYC’s pizza pioneers. The event kicks off at 5:00 PM in the East River Park Amphitheatre for a full evening of food, music, art, aerialists and poetry. Two Boots will be providing concessions during select events at East River Park. In addition to their unique, cornmeal-crusted, Cajun-Italian style pizzas, they will also be offering an assortment of delicious craft brews from breweries across the country. The day will be hosted and MC’ed by comedian/actor Luis Guzman! See below for line up.
